See Portion Of Alaskan Way Viaduct Disappear In 1 Minute

WSDOT is taking time-lapse video of the viaduct demolition. See the section at Columbia Street get taken down.

SEATTLE, WA — The Alaskan Way Viaduct has been with us for 66 years, but now you can watch it disappear in just 60 seconds.

WSDOT has been carefully documenting the ongoing demolition of the viaduct ever since it closed in January. That includes time-lapse video. The video above shows crews tearing down a section of the viaduct near Alaskan Way and Columbia Street.

Viaduct demolition hit the two-month mark on April 12. Work is supposed to wrap by June 1, but may take slightly longer, according to WSDOT. The viaduct is being attacked at both ends, with some crews working on the section closer to the defunct Battery Street Tunnel.
