From Shooter to Sincere Friend
Ted Hakey Jr comes to Seattle to share his experience of making peace with his neighbors in the mosque next door to his home.
During boot camp in 1986 Ted Hakey Jr. felt no hatred for Islam but that changed after 911. Misquotes of the Holy Quran on social media fueled his anger. Even President Obama's avoidance of saying Islamist extremists bothered him. Now he encourages others with his story of reconciliation. In 2016 a judge sentenced him to 6 months in prison for shooting dozen of shots into the mosque near his home in Connecticut. Supported by the love and forgiveness flowing his way, Ted discovered so much that he didn't know. Ignorance was not bliss. After struggling from hatred into love, he and his friends offer the audience this true story and with time to ask questions. All are welcome on Saturday, April 28th, 5:30 to 7:00 pm at Garfield Community Center, 2323 East Cherry Street, Seattle, WA 98122.
