Four or more vehicles were hit by bullets along a highway near Sea-Tac Airport Wednesday, sparking a massive police response.
BURIEN, WA - Police swarmed a stretch of SR 509 near Sea-Tac Airport Wednesday afternoon after four cars were hit by bullets. Washington State Patrol closed the highway for several hours during a manhunt for the shooter. The airport closed a portion of a runway, but no flight delays were reported.
Both the north and southbound lanes of SR 509 - which is a freeway along a stretch between Sea-Tac and the South Park neighborhood in Seattle - were closed for hours as police searched for the shooter. As of 8 p.m., no shooter had been found, despite police searching from the air and with K9 units.
According to Washington State Patrol spokesman Rick Johnson, all the vehicles involved in the shooting were hit on the driver side. The vehicles were likely targeted randomly, and no one was hurt.
