SIFF Screening All-Ages Films This Weekend

The Seattle International Film Festival kicks off Thursday and will feature all-ages films this weekend.

SEATTLE, WA - The Seattle International Film Festival kicks off on Thursday evening with the Judd Apatow-produced comedy "The Big Sick," starring Kumail Nanjiani from "Silicon Valley" and directed by Michael Showalter of "Wet Hot American Summer." But there will be 400 films shown during the festival, which runs through June 4, including a number of family-friendly films. Beginning this weekend, SIFF will screen animated films based on popular children's books.

Here's a look at some movies being show this weekend that should appeal to all ages, according to SIFF:

Tea Pets
Popping off the screen with vivacious colors and beautifully composed action sequences, a group of tea pets—cute clay figurines that are good-luck charms for tea drinkers—embark on a magical animated adventure to find a fabled mystic.

Ivan Tsarevitch
Renowned animator Michel Ocelot (Tales of the Night) uses his unique and vibrant silhouette style to share a quartet of bewitching fairy tales, as told by a wizened projectionist and his young apprentices who meet nightly in a dilapidated theater.

Ethel and Ernest
Based on the graphic novel by Raymond Briggs ("The Snowman"), this humane and funny animated tribute to his parents Ethel (Brenda Blethyn) and Ernest (Jim Broadbent) charts their tender love story from the 1920s to the 1970s.

Animal Crackers
Hooray for Captain Spaulding! The Marx Brothers wreak havoc upon society’s good graces in this timeless pre-Code comedy filled with madcap mayhem, priceless puns, and silly songs. Marx Brothers expert and author Robert S. Bader introduces this special screening.

Swallows and Amazons
Based on the enchanting children’s book, this heartwarming adventure introduces two groups of children camping on an island in the middle of England’s picturesque Lake District who goes from foes to friends in order to foil some skulduggerous spies.
