Small Earthquake Hits Seattle Area
The magnitude 3 earthquake struck just west of Monroe, where a magnitude 4.6 hit last Friday.
SEATTLE, WA — A small magnitude 3.0 earthquake hit the Seattle area on Wednesday afternoon. The quake hit just a few miles east of Monroe in Snohomish County, where a magnitude 4.6 hit last Friday.
The quake hit at around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. The quake was located about 16 miles underground in an area between Lord Hill Regional Park and the Snohomish River.
There was likely no damage from such a small earthquake, but residents as far away as Everett, Seattle, and Issaquah reported shaking, according to the PNSN.

Last week's magnitude 4.6 hit at around 3 a.m. and was felt throughout the region, even as far away as Yakima and British Columbia. There was no damage, but the quake served as a reminder for Puget Sound residents to be prepared for larger seismic events.
