Small Format Target Stores Coming To Seattle, Bellevue

The stores will open in urban areas and offer a "curated assortment that meets the needs of the neighborhood guests."

SEATTLE, WA - Target announced Tuesday that it will soon open three small-format stores in urban areas in Seattle and Bellevue, a move away from the typical big-box stores the retailer is known for.

The stores will open beginning in 2019 in the University District, Ballard, and near downtown Bellevue. The stores will be smaller than suburban Target stores. Each small format store will offer a "curated" assortment of goods - for example, the U-District store will specialize in dorm supplies and personal electronics.

  • The U-District store will open in 2019 and is approximately 21,000 square feet and will be located at 4535 University Way NE
  • The Bellevue store will open in 2020 and is approximately 49,000 square feet and will be located at 116th Ave NE and NE 4th St. in the Bellevue South building
  • The Ballard store will open in 2019 and is approximately 26,900 square feet and will be located at 1448 Market St., near the intersection of 15th Avenue Northwest
