Snow Coming To Mountain Passes This Thanksgiving

Snow levels dropping to 2,000 feet this week, and so officials are urging travelers to be cautious - even if you own a Subaru.

SEATTLE, WA - Snow levels in the mountains will drop to 3,000 feet Tuesday, and will hit 2,000 feet by the weekend, as a series of storms swoop into the Puget Sound region this week.

University of Washington meteorologist and weather blogger Cliff Mass is predicting three or more feet of snow above 4,000 feet in the Cascades and Olympic mountain ranges over the next week.

According to the National Weather Service, snow levels will drop to around 2,000 feet by Friday. The weather service is predicting between 2 to 7 inches of snow to fall in the passes through Thanksgiving, and that snow will continue through the weekend.

"Those crossing the Cascades are encouraged to allow extra time and prepare themselves and their vehicle properly for these conditions," the NWS said in a special weather statement.

Meanwhile, the lowlands will see rain and wind this week with temperatures hovering around 50 degrees.
