Snow Flurries Possible As Cold Continues: Puget Sound Forecast
Wednesday's cold set some new records in Puget Sound, and there are a couple of chances for snow before things warm up. Here's what to know.
SEATTLE — Puget Sound's cold streak will continue for another couple of days, and the latest forecasts see at least a pair of chances for a dusting of lowland snow. With temperatures staying well below their seasonal normals, more daily records fell Wednesday morning when Seattle logged a low of 23 degrees and Olympia tumbled to 14 degrees.
Across the Cascades, temperatures were still in the low single digits at 9 a.m. on Snoqualmie Pass, Stevens Pass and White Pass. Despite the sunshine, Seattle had crept just a couple of notches above the freezing mark by mid-afternoon.
With overnight lows in the 20s across the lowlands, the National Weather Service at least a little snowfall would be possible late Wednesday into early Thursday. Fortunately, daytime temperatures will start to warm up Thursday afternoon, and the sunshine is sticking around, but freezing nights will linger until the weekend.

"Given the nature of the airmass and available moisture, accumulations are expected to be light and the snow will also be the drier and more powdery type," NWS Seattle wrote Wednesday. "Snow showers will progress from north to south, ending by early Thursday morning. The warming trend will begin most notable on Thursday, with temperatures remaining cool, but into the low 40s."
Despite the warmer trend, Saturday is forecast to bring one last shot at lowland snow, with the best chances between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., before shifting to rain. Forecasters expect the wetter pattern will stick around well into next week.
