Snow Likely Through Mid-Week: Puget Sound Forecast

SEATTLE, WA - It's absolutely understandable if you're a little skeptical of a forecast that includes the word "snow." While it has definitely snowed in spots around Puget Sound over the past week, it's been highly variable. On Sunday afternoon, Seattle was sunny while hail and freezing rain fell just a few miles to the northeast.

This week, the National Weather Service is predicting lowland snow through Thursday, although the chances it will be measurable snow - well, it's a slim chance.

Here's the week-ahead forecast from the NWS:

Monday: A 20 percent chance of snow showers before 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 44. South wind 5 to 9 mph.

Monday Night: A chance of rain and snow between 10pm and 4am, then snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. South wind 9 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday: Snow likely before 10am, then a chance of rain showers. Cloudy, with a high near 44. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday Night: A chance of showers before 4am, then rain likely after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. South wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Wednesday: Rain. High near 45. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Rain. Low around 39. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Thursday: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47.

Thursday Night: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36.

Friday: Rain and snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46.

Friday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35.
