SR 99 Closing All Weekend For Construction, Repairs
Construction crews will be doing work to prepare for the opening of the new SR 99 tunnel under Seattle.

SEATTLE, WA - A long stretch of SR 99 through Seattle will be closed this weekend for construction and repairs. Only the southbound lanes will close beginning Friday night from the Battery Street Tunnel to the West Seattle Bridge.
This weekend, construction crews will be pouring concrete where the new SR 99 tunnel enters the roadway, just south of the viaduct. Crews will also be repairing a gap in the roadway in that area.
According to the Seattle Times, the roadway in that area has sunk about 2 inches due to soft landfill in the area. The roadway there was only built in 2011 as part of the Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement project.
