Star-Studded Virtual Benefit Concert Delayed Amid Protests

Organizers say the coronavirus benefit concert has been delayed to make space for the current protests across the country.

SEATTLE, WA — All In WA: A Concert for COVID-19 Relief has been delayed amid mass protests across the country. The show is a benefit raising money for food donations, housing assistance, small business support for Washingtonians who have been struggling during the pandemic. Several hugely popular Washington-based bands have agreed to be a part of the show's lineup, including Pearl Jam, the Dave Matthews Band, Macklemore, Brandi Carlile, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Ben Gibbard and more.

The virtual concert had been scheduled for June 10, but is being delayed so as not to distract or conflict with the protest movement happening across the country right now.

Announcing the delay, All In WA released a statement of solidarity with protesters demanding justice for black Americans suffering from biased policing.:

"We recognize the pain and injustice the Black and African American community is facing, once again, and the need to honor the ongoing marches, protests, and organizing. We also want to give space for our community to focus on what matters most at the moment; acknowledging and addressing systemic racism and violence that dehumanizes Black people and families, and taking steps to build to a new reality."

The concert has been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 24 at 7 p.m. Viewers can catch the show online at Amazon Music's Twitch channel, or organizer's website AllInWA.org. It will also be broadcast on KING 5 and KONG.

Amazon's Jeff Bezos has announced he will personally be matching donations to the concert for up to a total of $25 million dollars.
