'Stay Indoors': Unhealthy Air In Puget Sound Will Stay For Days

Stay indoors if you can. That's what the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency recommends due to wildfire smoke swamping the region.

SEATTLE, WA - The air quality in Puget Sound is about as bad as it's ever nbeen. And it's going to stay that way for most of this week, according to forecasts.

The National Weather Service issued an air quality warning on Sunday. According to the forecast, weather will keep wildfire smoke flowing into Puget Sound until late Wednesday.

Believe it or not, the air quality is slightly better in the Seattle area Monday morning compared to Sunday night. But air in the Tacoma area is still rated as "unhealthy," according to the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency. More smoke could push into the region Monday afternoon, but forecasters can't predict how much will settle near the ground.

"Winds today may help thin that smoke out. We still expect more smoke to come over the Cascade Mountains this afternoon, but models are unclear on how much we'll get on the surface," PSCAA wrote of the smoke.
