Strong Earthquake In Mexico Not Expected To Cause NW Tsunami
A significant earthquake off the coast of Chiapas will likely not affect Pacific Northwest.

SEATTLE, WA - The National Weather Service said that a strong earthquake off the coast of Mexico near Chiapas late Thursday is not anticipated to result in a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest. The earthquake was measured at 8.0 magnitude and caused people to flee buildings in Mexico City, the country's capital. Initial reports indicated that tsunami waves are possible in Mexico and several Central American countries, but unlikely along the U.S. Pacific Coast.
