Sub Pop Throwing Superfuzz Bigmuff 30th Birthday Party in Seattle

Seattle's famed music label is turning 30. To celebrate, Sup Pop bands from past and present will give a free concert this summer.

SEATTLE, WA - The Seattle music label that gave the world Nirvana, Soundgarden, Shabazz Palaces, The Shins, Mudhoney, The Postal Service and many more is turning 30 years old this year. To celebrate, Sub Pop will host a free concert this August at Alki Beach in Seattle.

The party will bring together some of the label's most revered bands from the past and present. Sub Pop will also be hosting a few non-free events featuring musicians and stand-up comedians from the label.

The main event happens Aug. 11 featuring: Shabazz Palaces, Mudhoney (the band's debut album with Sup Pop was called "Superfuzz Bigmuff"), Beach House, clipping, Kyle Craft, Fastbacks, Jo Passed, Loma, LVL UP, METZ, Moaning, and Wolf Parade. There will also be an all-ages show nearby featuring Caspar Babypants (the former leader of the band The Presidents of the United States of America), The Not-Its, and The School of Rock West Seattle House Band.

A free concert Aug. 10 at the Mural Amphitheater will feature: The Afghan Whigs, Mass Gothic and Yuno.

Also, on Aug 10, a ticketed event at the Moore Theater featuring comedians H. Jon Benjamin, Eugene Mirman, Kristen Schaal, Larry Murphy, John Roberts, and the cast of Bob's Burgers will benefit YouthCare.

On Aug. 11, the Sub Pop band Pissed Jeans will throw itself a 15th anniversary party at The Crocodile (not free).
