COVID-19 Illness at Home
If a parent or guardian suspects or knows of a COVID-19 illness at home, they should call or email the school to notify them of the student's absence. Front office staff will note any calls or emails related to suspected or confirmed COVID-19 symptoms/illness and will notify the COVID Response Team, who will do contact tracing.
Please see the Seattle Public Schools COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols for additional details.
If your student is attending in-person summer learning, you will need to review and complete a signed agreement.
Prior to beginning in-person services, your student's school will need to receive a signed agreement from a parent or guardian. Please complete the In-Person Learning Agreement and give to your student's school.
Grab-and-go breakfast and lunch will be provided to in-person students each day.
Students not coming to buildings for in person instruction can continue to access meals at meal sites across the district.
Staff will follow health and safety guidelines, including wearing a mask, completing a daily health screening, and disinfecting the vehicle after each service.
Students are required to wear a mask while riding school transportation. If a rider is unable to wear a face mask, appropriate accommodations will be made. Seating will be assigned to follow social distancing guidelines.
Summer Learning Opportunities
This summer families with children enrolled in preschool have two options: at-home family directed learning or in-person instruction lead by an educator. Learn more about these two options below. Families will receive an email from SPS to share their preference.
In-person Learning with Educators
On-demand learning
All students will have access to an on-demand Summer of Learning lessons in English language arts, math, and social emotional learning. A Summer of Learning lessons calendar will be updated weekly with new lessons and activities.
An Advanced Learning summer project packet will be available for all students on the Advanced Learning webpage. This packet will consist of a collection of projects that will offer K-8 students a variety of STEM activities that can be done from home. The Advanced Learning webpage's Summer Resources Showcase will also highlight recommended websites that offer free online resources and activities to further extend your student's learning.
Summer Staircase
Students who have been identified by their schools as needing extra support will be invited to join a targeted summer learning program, Summer Staircase. Due to staffing availability and social distancing in school buildings, these targeted options will have a limited number of seats available.
In-person instruction will follow COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
Bridge Course: incoming 6th grade students
The 5th to 6th grade Bridge Program is designed to support students' transition from elementary to middle school and will be offered remotely through Schoology.
Activities will include social emotional learning (SEL) lessons aligned with weekly themes. Lessons will support unique experiences of middle school-aged students, so students feel ready for the transition to sixth grade. Additionally, educators and staff will provide weekly live events to address content and themes to engage students in important social interaction and help students build connections. Students will be able to register for this program starting in June on the Summer Learning webpage.
