Sumner Gets New Public Crime Mapping Service

Here's how to view recent crime incidents in Sumner on the city's mapping service.

SUMNER, WA - What was the most reported crime in Sumner last week?

To find out, the city of Sumner has signed up for a new crime mapping service through the data company Lexis-Nexis. The service maps 911 and police calls made through South Sound 911.

The city formerly used a service provided by the company Crime Reports, which also provided crime and incident maps. The Lexis-Nexis service is already part of an agreement with South Sound 911, allowing the city to save a little money.

To explore the new crime mapping system, head to the Lexis-Nexis website. You'll find Sumner in the "jump to city" menu under "WA - Sumner." You can select a date range, and incidents ranging from homicide to DUI.

And according to the map, Sumner residents should think about securing their cars: motor vehicle theft appeared to dominate the city last week. There were six motor vehicle thefts reported and three burglaries from cars.
