Surprise Snow: Winter Weather Advisory For Puget Sound
Many around Puget Sound awoke to snow Thursday morning. See delays, traffic problems, and other snow-related incidents.

SEATTLE, WA - Wet, heavy snowflakes were falling across Puget Sound Thursday morning, causing fender-benders and school delays. The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the entire region from Everett south to Tacoma through noon.
According to the NWS, snow was falling steadily and sticking in Bellevue, Bothell, Maple Valley, and Seattle. There was some rain mixed in, according to the NWS.
"Total snow accumulations of up to an inch expected. Snow accumulations mainly on grassy surfaces. Minimal accumulations on roads," the NWS wrote in its advisory.

But that prediction was already expired as of 7 a.m. with plenty of snow on local roads.

As of 7 a.m., Tukwila schools had issued a two-hour delay, and Bellevue schools were preparing to excuse late arrivals. Lake Washington schools put elementary school buses on snow routes.

Waste collector Republic Services advised some Sammamish residents that some neighborhoods might not get pickup on Thursday due to poor road conditions.
Not all areas were seeing snow accumulate. Major highways were wet, but snow was not sticking, and WSDOT was not reporting any major incidents as of 7:15 a.m. Streets in downtown Seattle also appeared bare and wet.
