SEATTLE, WA - A 38-year-old man tried to hide from police at his parents' home in the gated Broadmoor golf community, touching off a standoff during which the suspect huffed nitrous oxide.

The suspect was released from jail on Wednesday night following a DUI arrest earlier in the week. He was allowed to pick up his truck from the police impound lot. But as he was leaving, he backed into a parked car and then fled the scene.

Later when he tried to go to his house, a Seattle police officer was there waiting for him. The man fled again, heading to his parents' Broadmoor home. He sat in the driveway doing whippets, telling police he wasn't going to go back to jail.

After two hours negotiating with the man, police decided to just grab him out of his truck.

"As police forced their way into the car and handcuffed the man, hundreds of green and silver nitrous oxide containers spilled out of the man’s truck onto the driveway," Seattle police wrote in description of the incident.
