Tough Traffic Weekend Predicted For Puget Sound
Major work on I-5, hundreds of boats, and one of the most dangerous drinking holidays of the year all happen this weekend.

SEATTLE, WA - Steel your nerves for a traffic weekend chock full of detours, lane closures, and potentially hazardous driving conditions.
This weekend, the major "Revive I-5" construction will continue, there's a big biking event in northeast King County and Snohomish County, there's a major drinking holiday (Cinco de Mayo), and the first day of boating season. What else?

I-5 in King County: the northbound HOV lane in the Federal Way area will be closed 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday for "Revive I-5" work.
I-90 near Issaquah: Beginning Monday, construction crews will start repaving 15 miles of I-90 between Issaquah and North Bend. Drivers should expect lane closures, shoulder closures, and reduced speeds over the next two years.

Boating season begins: The Montlake Bridge in Seattle, which connects the University District and Montlake neighborhoods, will be closed to cars from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for a boat parade. The bridge will be closed to bikes and pedestrians from noon to 4 p.m.
2018 Washington Tour de Cure: The event begins in Woodinville at Chateu Ste. Michelle. There are five different biking and 5K courses. The routes span Redmond to Lake Stevens, and as far west as Everett.
SR 410 in Bonney Lake: City crews will be replacing the SR 410 roadway between South Prairie Road and 208th Avenue East. Crews will begin grinding the road on Monday. Repaving will begin on May 14.
Sports: The Mariners play Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 7:10 p.m., 6:10 p.m., and 1:10 p.m., respectively. The Sounders play at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Cinco de Mayo: This major drinking holiday falls on a Saturday this year. Washington State Patrol and local police will be out patrolling roads and highways.
Large gatherings: The March of Dimes March For Babies begins at 9 a.m. Saturday in downtown Seattle; the Cannabis Freedom March at Westlake Park will include a "short" march at around 1 p.m. Saturday; the WWII Immortal Regiment Memorial Walk will begin at 12:30 p.m. Sunday with a rally, followed by a march to Seattle Center at 1:30 p.m.
