Updated Snowfall Expectations For Puget Sound: Forecast

You might need that snow shovel after all. New snow totals show up to 3 or 4 inches possible for Seattle-Tacoma area.

SEATTLE, WA - There's a lot of uncertainty about the possible snow in Puget Sound on Sunday night and into Monday. The National Weather Service's guess: anywhere between 0 and 4 inches for the Seattle-Tacoma area.

The NWS is using the word "spotty" to describe how the storm will hit the region. That means snow totals could be highly variable. The storm will begin Sunday morning with rain showers. Wind will pick up this afternoon in Whatcom County.

The snow will start very late Sunday night and continue into Monday morning. On Saturday, the NWS's "best guess" for snow between Everett and Tacoma was 0 to 1 inch. The "worst case" is 1 to 4 inches.

The region will see very cold temperatures beginning Sunday night. So even if it doesn't snow in your city, it's possible your commute could be impacted by snowfall in other areas.

"Generally 0.5 – 3” across the lowlands. Highest amounts along the north Olympic Peninsula & Admiralty Inlet. Important to keep in mind: heaviest amounts will be spotty and a few spots may see no accumulation," the NWS wrote on Twitter Sunday morning.
