Vaccine Appointments Available In Rainier Beach, West Seattle
Seattle has opened up hundreds of vaccine appointments this week for South Seattle and West Seattle residents, ages 65 and above.

SEATTLE — Hundreds of vaccine appointments are available this week for all residents ages 65 and above living in the Rainier Beach and West Seattle area, according to the mayor's office. The city's two new community vaccination sites, staffed by Seattle firefighters, will concentrate specifically on older residents living near the facilities between March 8 and March 13.

The mayor's office said South Seattle and West Seattle rank among the lowest vaccination rates for older adults, who are at substantially higher risk for COVID-19 complications.
"Right now, just over 60% of people 65 and older in South Seattle have been vaccinated, which is one of the lowest rates in King County," city officials wrote. "Just over 55% of people 75 and older in South Seattle have been vaccinated, which is the lowest rate in King County. It's critically important that we vaccinate the oldest members of our community."

According to the King County dashboard, both neighborhoods rank well below the countywide average. As of Friday, nearly 73 percent of King County residents ages 75 and above had received at least one dose, along with 67 percent of those between 65 and 74 years old.

- Must be 65 or older
- Live in West Seattle or South Seattle zip codes
- Fill out the online form in advance, or call 206-684-2489 for assistance
According to the city, both vaccine hubs are supplied with Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, and patients will be scheduled for second-dose appointments on-site. Those who meet broader eligibility requirements, but do not fulfill those listed above, are asked to utilize another vaccination option this week.
