Alt-Right Demonstrator Struggles To Rip May Day Sign: Video

For almost two minutes, the right-wing demonstrator tried to rip up a "refuse fascism" sign. Seattleites nearby mocked him.

SEATTLE, WA - A video of a man's struggle to rip up a sign during May Day protests in Seattle has become a national sensation. The nearly two-minute long video shows the man, a member of the alt-right group Patriot Prayer, trying to destroy an anti-fascist sign. His brute strength is no match for the durable plastic sign, however.

From behind the camera, a woman narrates the struggle, suggesting maybe the man can get an Amazon computer engineer to help him destroy the sign..

"You worked so hard, you're so close!" she says. "This is a very educated city, there are a lot of engineers in this city ... Amazon is right down the street, they have a lot of engineers who could help you."

The sign ripper, identified as Luke James Mahler, appeared to be trying to rip the sign so he could fit it inside a trash can. At one point, the woman suggests he just remove the lid so he can fit the sign without having to rip it.

"You needed a liberal to help you with that," she comments.

Mahler and a few other alt-right adherents came to Seattle on Tuesday to counter-protest left-wing activists. Typically a day of violence and vandalism, May Day 2018 was peaceful - in fact, Mahler's ordeal with the sign might've been the most violent struggle of the day.
