Video: Meteor Streaks Over Puget Sound Skies

A driver in British Columbia caught an amazing sight - a meteor streaking across the night sky on Thursday.

SEATTLE, WA - Did you see it?

At about 9:45 p.m. Thursday, scores of people across Western Washington and southern British Columbia reported seeing a meteor streak across the night sky.

In technical terms, a meteor is an object that enters the Earth's atmosphere and burns up. A meteorite is an object that enters Earth's atmosphere and survives its journey and lands on the ground, sometimes creating a crater.

In the Puget Sound region, people from Skyway south of Seattle to Puyallup reported seeing the meteor.

According to witness accounts, the Thursday meteor flashed green before disappearing. According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. (CBC), no space agencies have confirmed whether the object was a rock or potentially space junk.

Other meteors have been spotted this week over southwestern Australia and Pakistan.
