Warmer Days Ahead & A Chance For 80s Next Week: Puget Sound Forecast

A brush with the 80s is in the cards next week, and the end of the month is starting to look like a hot one. Here's what to expect.

SEATTLE — The weather this weekend should be rather pleasant, with forecasters expecting "seasonable summertime conditions," and Puget Sound is due for another warm-up early next week. Apart from a few clouds, both Saturday and Sunday will have some sunshine to offer, and the National Weather Service forecasts afternoon temperatures right around normal, landing in the low 70s.

"Saturday looks like a typical partly cloudy day — a few areas of morning clouds, and then some sun, and then clouds as another weak system reaches the area late in the day," NWS Seattle wrote Friday. "Sunday should start with clouds, but then an upper ridge will build and the air will warm and dry later on Sunday and into Monday."

A brief, toastier trend kicks off Monday, with temperatures climbing into the high-70s around Seattle, and potentially breaching the 80-degree threshold by Tuesday. If the forecast holds, the Emerald City will have recorded this year's longest stretch of temperatures at or above 70 degrees, besting the current best streak of five days.

It looks like the new streak could extend its lead by a good margin, with afternoons in the mid-to-high 70s forecast through at least next Friday, with plenty of sunshine, too.

While updated climate projections favor near-normal temperatures and seasonably dry conditions through mid-July, long-range forecasts show growing odds for a heat-up in the Pacific Northwest between the last week of July and the first week of August.
