Warmer Than Usual Spring For Puget Sound Possible: NWS

SEATTLE, WA — Puget Sound might get an above-average warm spring this year, according to new projections from the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center.

The NWS climate outlook, which looks at possible weather over the next 30 days, says there's a 50 to 60 percent chance of a warmer spring here. There's also a 33 to 40 percent chance we'll have below-average rainfall.

An even longer range forecast that looks at weather from May to July sees up to a 70 percent chance of higher-than-normal temperatures.

What's normal? The average high for May in the Seattle area is 64 (58 for April), according to the National Weather Service. And we typically get above an inch of rain in May. As of April 25, the Seattle area has had 12 days when the temperature was above 60 degrees — including two days when temperatures were at 70 degrees.
