Washington Launches App To Help Teens Stop Vaping
The Department of Health hopes getting the tools to quit directly to smartphones will help the message stick.

OLYMPIA, WA -- The state Department of Health put on a new app Monday, specifically built to help teens and young adults kick the vaping habit. To build the app, health officials partnered with the Kirkland-based company 2Morrow -- they previously built a similar program to help people kick cigarettes.
The app is interactive and lets users input every time they have an urge to use nicotine, so they can track their progress daily and weekly. Teens also can find customized tips based on what they tell the app and take lessons on how to deal with cravings.
The app's release follows Friday morning's news when Governor Inslee announced an executive order seeking an emergency ban on the sale of flavored vapor products. The latest Washington State Healthy Youth Survey founds that almost 30 percent of high school seniors said they used vapes last year. A separate survey, by 2Morrow, found an overwhelming majority of teen vape users have considered quitting.
