Washington Weather Forecast: Rain Monday Before A Sunny Streak

SEATTLE — November will squeeze in one last storm Monday before the skies clear for a sunkissed start to December, according to the latest forecasts.

Following a beautiful Sunday across Western Washington, the National Weather Service expects a "vigorous frontal system" will bring rainfall, wind gusts and mountain snow lasting into Monday afternoon.

Between 2 and 6 inches of snow is expected to fall over the mountain passes, which could complicate conditions for travelers. All drivers headed to higher elevations are encouraged to plan ahead, drive cautiously and carry chains. The heaviest snow should pass by 10 a.m., but lingering showers may persist into the afternoon.

Forecasters said high winds should peak in the overnight hours and begin to ease by late morning. The strongest gusts should stick to the coast, the San Juans and western Whatcom and Skagit counties. Maximum wind speeds in the Seattle and Tacoma region are expected between 20 and 30 mph.

While Monday's precipitation is likely to be widespread, significant impacts are not expected. The latest round of wet weather should be relatively-short lived, clearing out by Monday evening and giving way to much drier conditions lasting for several days.

According to the National Weather Service, the rest of the week looks to be dry and sunny, with afternoon temperatures in the high 40s to low 50s, with overnight lows in the low-to-mid 30s. Right now, the next chance for moisture will not arrive until at least the weekend.
