Weekend Eastbound SR 520 Closures Between Seattle, Eastside
An eastbound closure of State Route 520 is another traffic impact drivers will need to navigate this weekend.

SEATTLE, WA — Eastbound lanes of State Route 520 will be closed between Montlake Boulevard in Seattle and 92nd Avenue Northeast on the Eastside from Friday night to Monday morning. According to WSDOT, crews will work around the clock to shift traffic lanes to a new configuration, which will be the new normal for the next three or four years.

The weekend closure will likely impact fans leaving the MLS Cup Final at CenturyLink Field Sunday afternoon. According to WSDOT, neighbors should expect noisy nights from Friday night through Saturday evening, as crews break concrete near the Montlake Boulevard overpass. The work precedes a long project to replace the bridge over Union bay, to meet modern seismic standards.
Drivers will notice traffic delays until 2023, as lanes shift to a two-lane configuration, with a lower speed limit, in the work zone.
