Westbound 520 Closure Planned Thursday Night

All westbound lanes of State Route 520 will be closed over Lake Washington from late Thursday until early Friday. Here's what to know.

SEATTLE — An overnight closure along State Route 520 will prevent westbound trips between the Eastside and Seattle between Thursday night and Friday morning, according to state transportation officials.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the latest westbound closure will allow crews time to remove more pieces of concrete from the old Montlake Boulevard overpass.

Here's what drivers should know about the Thursday night closure, from WSDOT:

  • Timing: 10 p.m Thursday, Jan. 13 - 5 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14
  • All lanes of westbound SR 520 will be closed from 92nd Avenue Northeast on the Eastside to I-5 in Seattle.
  • The westbound on-ramps at 84th Avenue Northeast and Montlake Boulevard will be closed.
  • The HOV on-ramp to westbound SR 520 at 108th Avenue Northeast will be closed.
  • The SR 520 trail across Lake Washington will be open.

Officials cautioned that Seattle residents living near the work zone should also expect another noisy night.

"Nearby neighbors can expect to near noise from activities such as overpass demolition, paving and truck traffic," WSDOT wrote. "We've been granted a temporary noise variance from the city of Seattle for this work."
