When Is The Mariners 2017 Home Opener Game?

The Seattle Mariners season kicked off on April 2 in Houston, but the first home game isn't until Monday.

SEATTLE, WA - The Seattle Mariners 2017 home opener at Safeco Field is on Monday at 2:10 p.m. and the Ms are playing the Houston Astros. Monday's game kicks off a nine-game home stretch for the Mariners. The stint will begin with three games against the Astros, and then the Texas Rangers and Florida Marlins will roll into town.

There are also opening day festivities planned, according to the Mariners, including:

  • The traditional ceremonial first run around the bases by a Make-A-Wish® child will feature eight-year old Sophia Robinson of Anchorage, Alaska, who has undergone six surgeries, two of them open-heart, to treat two life-threatening heart conditions. In 2013, Sophia had her wish fulfilled to meet Felix Hernandez. They have remained in close contact ever since. Sophia will be the first person to "touch them all" on Opening Day.
  • The National Anthem will be performed by Naval Petty Officer, 1st Class, Generald Wilson, Ret., and colors will be presented by the Kitsap Fire Fighters Union Honor Guard and Lakewood Police Department.

Safeco opens at 11:40 a.m. Monday, and the opening day festivities start around 1:30 p.m. Read more about the Mariners home-opener festivities here.
