Wind Warnings Issued For Puget Sound As 'The Big Dark' Approaches

Expect wind gusts up to 55 MPH Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

SEATTLE, WA - No matter where you live in the Puget Sound region, it's going to be a windy Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued two different wind warnings on top of a flood watch. The storm system approaching the region Wednesday has been named "The Big Dark" and will bring another storm later in the week.

A wind advisory has been issued for all cities from Seattle to Olympia and stretches east to the Cascades. Expect gusts up to 45 MPH, which might down limbs and power lines.

"Winds of this magnitude can cause minor tree damage and local power outages. This will be the first event of this magnitude this season. Such events commonly bring more impacts in terms of tree damage and power outages than the same wind later in the season," the advisory warns.
