Winter In The Park At SAM Sculpture Park

Explore winter events at the Seattle Art Museum's sculpture park in Belltown.

SEATTLE, WA - From Seattle Art Museum: This December through February 2019, SAM’s Olympic Sculpture Park hosts free programs for all ages that connect art, the environment, and the winter season. Winter in the Park includes the fifth annual SAM Lights, family-friendly afternoons at Kids’ Saturdays, and interactive evenings with Art Encounters.

At SAM Lights on December 13, the park and its iconic sculptures will be lit with the glow of luminarias, and visitors can enjoy tours, art making, and music. Kids’ Saturdaysfeatures two free afternoon events in January and February for kids, along with their families and caregivers.

Now in its third year, an artist residency at the sculpture park explores the relationship between art and the environment. The residency culminates in two interactive Art Encounters. This year, SAM selected an artist in collaboration with Tracy Rector, Asia Tail, and Satpreet Kahlon, the curators of yəha, an upcoming exhibition at King Street Station. Multi-disciplinary Indigenous artist Christine Babic will create an immersive experience that comments on the gap between contemporary and traditional Indigenous works.
