Wire Thefts Close I-5 Express Lane Ramp: WSDOT
State transportation officials said the theft made it impossible to run the gates or signage for one of the express lane ramps in Seattle.

SEATTLE — State transportation officials closed an entrance and exit ramp to the Interstate 5 express lanes in Seattle on Tuesday after a significant wire theft.
In a social media post Tuesday morning, the Washington State Department of Transportation said thieves struck its equipment near the downtown express lane ramp at 9th Avenue and Pike Street, preventing crews from being able to operate the gates or signs due to lack of power.
The ramp will remain closed until repairs can be completed, but WSDOT said the express lanes would continue to run normally elsewhere.
