SEATTLE — Seattle police arrested a 35-year-old man Thursday, accused of attacking a woman inside a bathroom at the King County Courthouse. Police said the victim works at the courthouse and went to use the bathroom when she found the man inside.

The woman told police the man attempted to assault her and she screamed for help as she physically fought with him. Police said a colleague entered the bathroom and subdued the man while other staffers called for more help. The Seattle Police Department responded to take over the investigation from King County deputies. In a news briefing, Sergeant Randy Huserik said the initial call came in as a sexual assault, but further details were pending further investigation.

After his arrest, detectives with the police department's sexual assault unit interviewed the suspect, who investigators said is currently under state supervision with the Department of Corrections. Following his interview, the suspect was booked into the King County jail. More details are likely to be released after an initial court appearance Friday afternoon.
