Woman, 2 Children Hurt In Shooting At Seattle's Pritchard Beach

Shooting broke out around 7 p.m. on Memorial Day at a crowded Lake Washington park in South Seattle.

SEATTLE, WA — Shooting broke out at the crowded Pritchard Beach park in South Seattle along Lake Washington Monday night, leaving a woman, a toddler, and another child injured, according to authorities.

The three victims were apparently caught in a crossfire as two groups of people fired at each other, Seattle police said Monday night.

Firefighters and police responded to the scene around 7 p.m. and treated the woman and toddler. They were both taken to the hospital in serious condition, according to Seattle fire. The woman and her child were sitting in a car when they were hit.

A few minutes later, firefighters responded to near the Lakewood Community Center north of Pritchard Beach on a report of a 10-year-old with a gunshot wound. The child was shot at Pritchard Beach and driven from the scene. The child had non-life threatening injuries.

Monday morning, a Haborview spokeswoman said the mother and toddler were in serious condition, but the 10-year-old had been discharged.

Police were still holding groups of people at the park around 8 p.m. One man, who didn't want to give his name, said he heard the shots and saw bullets hit the water. He took shelter behind a tree, he said.

Pritchard Beach is a busy park with a swimming beach, a boat house, and network of trails.
