WSDOT Map Illustrates Extremely Busy Traffic Weekend In Puget Sound
John Mayer, the New York Yankees, the WNBA All-Star Game, and of course construction, will make for another challenging traffic weekend.

SEATTLE, WA - This is nothing new: it's going to be a busy traffic weekend from top to bottom around Puget Sound. But what makes this weekend unique - in addition to construction - is the sheer number of big events happening around the region. There are so many events happening, WSDOT made an "illustrated" map for convenience.
If that map isn't good enough, here's a list of some of the more major events going on this weekend that will affect traffic:

Mariners vs. New York Yankees - About 40,000 people are expected at each game Friday (7 p.m.), Saturday (6 p.m.), and Sunday (1 p.m.).

BELLEVUE
Due to Sound Transit construction, the Bellevue Way Southeast HOV ramp is closed (the closure began Thursday) through next week.
RENTON
River Days - Thousands expected at this event centered around Liberty Park in the downtown area. Events and activities begin each day around 11 a.m.
EASTERN WASHINGTON
I-90 construction - Lane reductions between North Bend and Ellensburg, which has been ongoing for several weekends.
John Mayer/Jack Johnson - The bluesy soft-rock pop stars will play The Gorge this weekend. Mayer plays Friday, Johnson on Saturday.
OLYMPIA
Perhaps the biggest construction slowdown expected this weekend is in Olympia along I-5. The highway will be reduced to two lanes northbound near Pacific Avenue for bridge repair work. The lane restrictions begin at 10 p.m. Friday and last until 5 a.m. Monday.
On top of all these planned events and construction activities, the weather is supposed to be quite nice this weekend, which might put more people on the road.
