SEATTLE, WA - A 43-year-old Seattle man was hit by another driver early Sunday morning while he was standing in the shoulder along I-5. The driver who hit the man fled the scene after the crash, according to Washington State Patrol.
The crash happened around 3 a.m. in the southbound lanes near 145th Street at the Seattle-Shoreline border. Joaquin Gauna was standing behind his car when the suspect drifted a 2003 Honda Element into the back of Gauna's car.
Gauna was thrown into the highway along with his vehicle. The Element continued down I-5 for about 300 feet before coming to a stop, police said. The driver ran off in an unknown direction.
