Dramatic Rescue Of Boy, 5, After Amber Alert In Lake Forest Park

Jaden Dempsey-Chesney, 5, was rescued Wednesday afternoon after a confrontation in Seattle's Roosevelt neighborhood.

LAKE FOREST PARK, WA - An Amber Alert for a 5-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon ended in a dramatic scene in Seattle's Roosevelt neighborhood. The boy's father, his captor, allegedly rammed police cars and other vehicles before he was stopped and arrested.

The entire ordeal lasted under an hour.

Washington State Patrol sent out the Amber Alert near 1:30 p.m. for 5-year-old Jaden Dempsey-Chesney, who was allegedly abducted by his father, Taraille Chesny, 31.

About 20 minutes later, people in Seattle's University District began calling 911, reporting that Chesny's silver Mercedes was driving through the neighborhood. A Seattle police patrol car spotted the car, and a chase began.

"A patrol officer observed the suspect vehicle driving at a high rate of speed near 15th Avenue NE and NE 60th Street. The suspect vehicle collided with a number of police patrol vehicles before coming to a stop at the intersection of 15th and 63rd," Seattle police described in a statement.

Police pulled the boy from the car, as well as Chesny and another passenger. Police arrested Chesny and interviewed the passenger. All three were taken to the hospital for evaluation, but it appeared there were no injuries, serious or otherwise.
