Shoreline school support staff could strike Monday if no deal reached (komonews.com) — Shoreline families could see major school disruptions Monday as more than 300 support staff prepare to strike if no contract deal is reached by Sunday night. The union, representing paraeducators, nurses, office staff, and more, is pushing for wage increases comparable to neighboring districts, while teachers have voted to support them and members plan sign-making at Shoreline Park this weekend.
2. Shoreline Farmers Market Director (shorelineareanews.com) — Shoreline's weekly Farmers Market at the BikeLink Park 'n Ride on 192nd and Aurora runs every Saturday through October, offering fresh local produce and goods. New executive director Ashley brings years of farmers market experience and a strong focus on food access, aiming to make the market a welcoming, thriving hub for the Shoreline community.
3. Bike sale at the Shoreline Tool Library September 19, 2026 (shorelineareanews.com) — A big community bike sale is coming to the Shoreline Tool Library on Aurora next Saturday, offering kids', adult, and even some high-end bikes at fixed, affordable prices. Running 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. behind the library, the nonprofit fundraiser will also feature used parts and accessories, with proceeds supporting local tool libraries in Shoreline and Seattle.
4. Seattle hiking group gets younger people with dementia outdoors (knkx.org) — Younger adults living with dementia are finding connection and fresh air through SOAR, a UW Medicine-backed hiking program that recently led an outing at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park in Shoreline. The group offers monthly guided hikes tailored to people in their 40s to early 60s, helping reduce isolation and build community for participants and their families across the region.
5. King County hosts anonymous gun buyback event in Shoreline (fox13seattle.com) — King County recently hosted an anonymous gun buyback at Shoreline Community College, where residents traded unwanted firearms for Visa gift cards to support suicide prevention efforts. Deputies collected weapons from cars in a drive-through line, with most guns slated for destruction and another buyback already scheduled in Burien next month.
