Historic Signs

Eight historical signs depicting the history of Lake Forest Park will be placed throughout the city in commemoration of the City's 50th anniversary.

Each sign describes a specific period in the history of the area before and after incorporation and annexations. The signs were paid for by a King County 4Culture Grant.

City Hall Area

• The Early Years and Logging: The first    known residents and the impact of logging on the area, pre-1910.
• A Residential Park: Lake Forest Park is developed as a residential community, 1912.
• Becoming a City: Lake Forest Park incorporates, 1961.
• Lake Forest Park Grows: History of Sheridan Beach and Heights and other city annexations, 1927-1999.

Beach Drive/Civic Club

• Lake Forest Park Civic Club and Early Transportation: The Civic Club's role in the early community and transportation around the lake, early 1900’s.

Horizon View Park

• Nike Ajax Missile Site: Protecting the area from Soviet attack, 1957-1964.
• Tolt Pipeline: Bringing water to the metropolitan area, 1962.

Lake Forest Park Elementary School/Ballinger Way

• Lake Forest Park Schools: One-room school house to present schools, 1912 – 2011.
