Luanne Brown was inspired to teach her upcoming summer writing course, Fan Your Creative Fire, after her husband’s heart attack two months ago. “Life is tenuous and precious. I may not have tomorrow to make my dreams come true,” Brown says and part of her dream is to teach writing. With 30 years’ experience as a professional writer, she focuses teaching the steps in the writing process in fun and creative ways.
“In our country 81%* of American adults want to write a book. If you add people who want to write screenplays to that, I bet the number goes even higher,” she says. “While the desire to write is primal, many people never have the confidence or tools to make their writing dreams come true. They tell themselves there isn’t time—even though it’s their heart’s desire. I can help them change that by showing people how they can honor their call to write and still live busy lives.”
While critics charge that not everyone has a compelling story to tell, Brown disputes that. “You have a right to write and I can help you exercise that right in creative and compelling ways that will ensure that you tell your story in the best way possible.” Brown claims that her strength as a teacher comes from writing for so many mediums. “Writers usually specialize in one genre or form, but I’ve written for film, print, the Web, interactive media, non-fiction, and fiction. “While each form has its rules, the creative process is universal and I can help my students dig for their own creative gold.”
