Link Up Resource

Link Up is a King County program that helps to connect recycling companies, end users of recycled material and members of the public looking for opportunities to recycle used material.

King County has a program called "Link Up," which creates partnerships with businesses, agencies and other organizations in the Puget Sound area to help increase the collection and processing of recyclable materials, use of recycled materials in manufacturing/production and purchase of recycled-content products.

For example roofing companies can save on the cost of disposing of waste by sending asphalt shingles to companies that convert the shingles into material used to resurface our roadways.

Companies that remodel can send used carpet to companies that remanufacture the carpets into new carpet fiber, auto parts and wood-plastic composites.

A business owner can go to the "What do I do with...?"page and do a key word search to look up where items can be taken for recycling. A key word search of "glass" gave me a listing of various types of glass: Mixed glass, Separated Glass, Window Glass, Acoustic Ceiling Tile, Fiberglass and Eyeglasses. For each topic you can see a list of vendors who accept the material for recycling.

The website strongly encourages calling service providers in advance to confirm items accepted.
