Kennedy spoke about her new book of poetry and her interest in education
Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of former President John F. Kennedy, made a stop at Monday to promote her newest book, "She Walks in Beauty," a collection of poems that celebrate the struggles and triumphs of women.
At the event, Kennedy gave a short speech in which she outlined some of her accomplishments working in New York schools and her belief that poetry has a place in modern society and education.
"It's a fragmented world, and I think poems can really bring moments of clarity," Kennedy said. "Poetry is the essence of language and the purest expression of ideas."

After the speech, Kennedy met with attendees and signed hundreds of books in .
"She Walks in Beauty" is Kennedy's fourth book of poetry and contains works from Mary Oliver, Queen Elizabeth I, Elizabeth Bishop, Edna St. Vincent Millay and many others.
