Watch: Detective Pulls Gun On Motorcyclist In Shoreline

The King County Sheriff's Office has put the officer on administrative leave and Sheriff John Urquhart has apologized.

SHORELINE, WA - A King County Sheriff's detective drew his gun on a motorcyclist during a traffic stop last week and has since been placed on administrative leave over the incident, according to reports. The incident occurred Aug. 16 at the intersection of Northeast 145th Street and 5th Avenue Northeast, along the Seattle-Shoreline border. The motorcyclist, Shoreline resident Alex Randall, captured the whole incident on a GoPro camera attached to his helmet.

In the video, Randall can be see driving along 145th until he stops for a light. All of a sudden, he turns to his right, and there's a man standing there with a gun in his hand, and the two start arguing. The detective does not immediately identify himself as an officer.

The detective accuses Randall of driving recklessly, and then threatens to "knock [Randall] off this bike." Randall told KOMO News he thinks he was going up to 15 MPH over the speed limit.
