Friends of Fircrest to Dedicate Therapy Garden to Jacqueline C. McRae

The ceremony this Thursday, Aug. 25, will commemorate McRae's years of service to the community.

The Friends of Fircrest is holding a ceremony Thursday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m., at 15230 15th Ave NE, to dedicate the Jacqueline C. MacRae Therapy Garden. The garden site is behind the houses at 301-304 at the .

MacRae was born Oct. 5, 1920 and passed away July 28, 2010.

The Friends of Fircrest said in the announcement for the dedication that MacRae lived by three guiding principles: activism, purposefulness and a sense of adventure.

McRae supported numerous charitable interests including the Seattle Opera, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Seattle Art Museum, Burke Museum, Washington Water Trails and Fircrest School. She was a longstanding member of The Rainier Club, Sunset Club and Seattle Yacht Club.

In 1998, McRae was presented the Outstanding Service Award by Friends of Fircrest. She had been working with the developmentally disabled community since l981.

The Friends of Fircrest is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization advocating for the rights to quality living choices for all people with developmental disabilities. Friends of Fircrest provides support to residents of .
