VIDEO: Lake Forest Park Celebrates 50 Years
Hundreds of people headed to City Centre to eat, listen to music and celebrate 50 years of Lake Forest Park
Foreboding clouds did little to keep people away from Lake Forest Park Towne Centre Sunday as community members and area residents capped off a weekend-long celebration of Lake Forest Park's 50-year history.
As kids danced to the music of Caspar Babypants (a children's band lead by Chris Ballew, the frontman of Seattle rock band The Presidents of the United States of America), Mayor Dave Hutchinson prepared to give a short speech, which he would conclude with the presentation of a birthday cake commemorating Lake Forest Park's incorporation in 1961.
"Everyone should eat some cake," Hutchinson said, as volunteers readied a dozen or so boxes of cupcakes for anxious kids and parents who quickly began forming lines once the mayor gave the queue.

Before long, the cupcakes began to dwindle. But people stuck around and purused the farmer's market booths and listened to the music.
The morning started with a free pancake feast, courtesy of the Lake Forest Park Rotary Club, and concluded with family county/folk band The Small Time String Band.
