Letter to Editor: McClelland Opposes BSRE's Proposed Point Wells Development
McClelland: "I will work to prevent Snohomish County from plunking an "urban center" at the end of a two lane road."

To the editor:
I stand firm on my position that the BSRE project is wrong for Point Wells, would be disastrous for Richmond Beach, and must be stopped. We must not allow Snohomish County to impose its will on our city.
As a 13-year resident of Richmond Highlands and former planning commissioner, I can “hit the ground running” to tackle the situation head-on and bring 30 years of professional urban planning experience to bear on council decisions.

I will work to prevent Snohomish County from plunking an “urban center” at the end of a two lane road miles from necessary services and infrastructure. The very idea flies in the face of local, regional, and state-mandated land use regulations. Until the BSRE permit is rendered invalid, we must delay the project through the environmental review process.
Do not confuse my comments on the 2009 Subarea Plan where I suggested Point Wells be a gathering place for Shoreline residents with the current out-of-scale BSRE project which I fully oppose.

I am invested in Shoreline with the time to see this through using all the tools available - negotiation, litigation, and peaceful resolution to secure a proposal in our best interests.
