Letter to the Editor: Ridgecrest Resident to Vote for Salomon

City needs sidewalks, lighted streets and restaurants

To the editor:

I intend to vote for Jesse Salomon.

As a Ridgecrest Neighborhood resident, our neighborhood desperately needs more street lights and sidewalks.  I've been seeking this for years.

We live on 1st Ave NE.  To walk to the The Crest and 7-11, we and our kids use the streets for lack of adequate sidewalks; those that exist are in extremely poor condition.  They are narrow, can be covered in moss, or buckled by tree roots, etc.

Our streets are far too dark at night.  A lack of street lights means women tend to not walk at night at all.  Obviously, it's unsafe for us and our neighbors to walk, or bike, in the street at night, but we do anyway.  Many neighbors keep their front door lights on all night because without them, you cannot see anything at all.

Finally, I'd like Shoreline City Council to make a genuine effort to bring family dining or any modest quality dining to our community.  When we go out to eat, with a few exceptions, it's generally outside of Shoreline.  We'd like to keep our dining dollars right here.  When sandwiched between the likes of Edmonds and Northgate (no pun intended) who have plenty of dining options, and growing, there is no comparison; we lose hands down.  With our primary traffic corridors that run through our community, one would think Shoreline could be an ideal location for dining.  Try to make it so.
