Shelter Cat Stolen, Found Mutilated In Dumpster
The Whisker City Animal Shelter cat was reported stolen Tuesday and may have been tortured.

SHORELINE, WA - Police are investigating after a cat was stolen from a padlocked cage at Whisker City Animal Shelter and murdered. The cat, Quixote, was found in a dumpster near the shelter and was likely tortured. "It appears as if every bone in Quixote's body is broken," a post from the shelter's Facebook page read. "Head crushed. Eyes pulled out. It's horrifying."
April Brown made a video following the incident to warn Shoreline cat owners of the danger.
"Your cat's not safe," Brown said in the video. "Someone went in the cage, took this cat out and murdered it."

A neighbor reportedly heard a series of noises around 3 a.m. from the area of the shelter. The suspect was last seen wearing a yellow poncho, which was found at the scene. The poncho has writing on it from a recent protest: "homeless need a home but not in my back yard Richmond Beach."
Animal shelter staff said the cat likely put up a struggle as blood was found on a blanket in its cage. The cat may have been stolen because he was mistakenly thought to be a valuable Savannah breed.
