Vessel sinks -- the ones that sit on top of the counter -- have become a popular choice and it's not unusual to see a sink like this adding a bit of design flare in even the most modest home remodels.
The sinks come in all shapes and sizes and are made of glass, wood, stone, ceramic, porcelain, metal -- almost any material a fabricator can get his or her hands on!
Sometimes vessel sinks can be problematic with splashing and cleaning in high-traffic and high use bathrooms. Nor are they the best choice for the grooming needs of your average 8-year-old.
But in the powder room, vessel sinks are awesome! I always encourage my clients to add some "sparkle and splendid" to their powder rooms and go a bit over the top. It's great to watch the wheels turn as they imagine all the fun their friends and family will have experiencing the new design.
Because there's so little room and few elements in the powder room, the new vessel sink is often the centerpiece to the design plan. With so many of the sink designs looking very similar these days, the whole search can start to feel a bit daunting and dull.
